Damien grew up in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and completed his Science degree at Monash University and then postgraduate Medical degree at University of Queensland. He returned to Victoria to undertake advanced surgical training in Ear, Nose and Throat, Head and Neck Surgery and obtained a fellowship (FRACS) of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010.
From 2011 to 2012, he undertook a subspecialty Clinical Fellowship in United Kingdom at St Georges Hospital in London. During this time, Damien developed further experiences in Paediatric ENT as a visiting fellow at world renowned hospitals including Great Ormond Street in London United Kingdom and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Ohio, United States of America.
Damien is passionate and actively involved in training and mentoring junior doctors. He is the Supervisor of Surgical training in Paediatric ENT, Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Royal Children’s Hospital. He has published and presented lectures at domestic and international conferences and seminars.
Damien has special interest in Paediatric ENT problems including various treatments for hearing loss, speech delay and glue ear treatments, and treatments for snoring and sleep apnoea in children and adults.
He has been very active in advancing the use of microscopic minimal access sinus surgery to avoid the use of nasal packing and provide better recovery for patients undergoing sinus surgery.
Damien operates privately at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, East Melbourne and Warringal Private Hospital in Heidelberg and consults privately in North Fitzroy, Parkville (adjacent to Royal Children’s Hospital) and Heidelberg Heights.
He has public appointments at Royal Children’s Hospital and at Austin Hospital.
Damien is married and has two children and a dog. He enjoys playing basketball and training nippers in Surf Life Saving Club over summer.
