Rhinoplasty

Reshaping the nose

Rhinoplasty is performed for either functional or cosmetic reasons or both. Functional rhinoplasty is required when a patient has significant problems associated with breathing through their nose. The goal of a functional rhinoplasty is to improve the nasal airway and usually doesn’t cause much alteration in the appearance of the nose.

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

To open up the sinuses

Functional Endoscopic sinus surgery [FESS] refers to operating through the nostrils to open up the sinuses.

Septoplasty Turbinoplasty

Straightening the middle cartilage of the nose (septum) and shrinking the turbinates (turbinoplasty).

A septoplasty and turbinoplasty is a common operation used to treat nasal congestion or obstruction.

Grommets

To improve hearing and reduce infections

Grommets are ventilating tubes which are inserted into the tympanic membrane [ear drum] and allow air to enter the middle ear.

Otoplasty can be performed to place the ears back in a more natural position, dramatically improving the aesthetic appearance. Correction of severe deformities of the ears is more complex and can be discussed on an individual basis.

Adenotonsillectomy

For children with sleep disordered breathing and recurrent tonsillitis

Adentotonsillectomy is usually performed in children who have problems associated with sleeping. Children who have problems associated with snoring or obstructive sleep apnoea should be assessed as to whether they need to have their tonsils and adenoids removed.

Examination of the larynxLaryngoscopy is performed to examine someone’s larynx during a general anesthetic and potentially perform an excision or biopsy. This procedure can be performed as a day stay procedure.
